A/W 16/17 Trend Boards (Materials & Stitches)

1. Felted and Boiled Fabric

Felted and boiled wool are also seen at the yarn shows, Pitti Filati and SpinExpro.  Especially, the boiled wool with patterns like jacquard patterns are important in the seasons AW16/17.

2. Brushed Brights

Brushed and hairy looks maintain popularity for A/W 16/17, bright and more intense colours such as yellow and red are important in the seasons. Mixed colour effects such as spaced-dyed contrasts or melange tones work for a more fade look in mohair, alpaca wool and nylon.

3. Gauzy Metallics

Burnished metallic are still important. Pointelle and holding techniques lend dimensional effects to gauzy and sheer weights in polyester, viscose and nylon blends.

4. Plush Touch

Boucle, chenille and plush effects are a key at the yarn shows such as Pitti Filati and SpinExpo, with exaggerated loops and fur looks in heavy gauges, soft and light qualities are developed in finer gauges with yarns such as alpaca, mohair and cashmere blends offering a more delicate and refine quality.

5. Textured Patterns

Woven-look stitches, Geometric design and double faces knitted as well as the ladder-backed jacquard prove important in the seasons A/W 16/17.

6. Technical Graphic

Technical yarns continue to be important for a directional fashion as we transition into A/W 16/17. A bold statement is Key: use a large-scale pattern and relief textures in ultra-fine synthetic blends.
