Brushed and hairy looks maintain popularity for A/W 16/17, bright and more intense colours such as yellow and red are important in the seasons. Mixed colour effects such as spaced-dyed contrasts or melange tones work for a more fade look in mohair, alpaca wool and nylon.
Burnished metallic are still important. Pointelle and holding techniques lend dimensional effects to gauzy and sheer weights in polyester, viscose and nylon blends.
Boucle, chenille and plush effects are a key at the yarn shows such as Pitti Filati and SpinExpo, with exaggerated loops and fur looks in heavy gauges, soft and light qualities are developed in finer gauges with yarns such as alpaca, mohair and cashmere blends offering a more delicate and refine quality.
